Vivo Dominates the Indian Smartphone Market in Q3 2023

Vivo has emerged as the leader in the Indian smartphone market for the third quarter of 2023 (July to September). The company shipped 9.1 million units during this period, up from 7.2 million in Q3 2022, securing a 19% market share—up from 17% last year.

Xiaomi follows closely with 7.8 million units shipped, capturing a 17% market share. Although its shipments increased by 200,000 units compared to the previous year, its market share dropped by 1%.

Samsung holds the third spot with a 16% share, having shipped 7.5 million units. This is a decline from the 18% share and 7.9 million units shipped in the same period last year. Oppo and Realme round out the top five, with Oppo shipping 6.3 million units for a 13% share, and Realme shipping 5.3 million units, representing 11% of the market.

Oppo saw the most significant growth, increasing its shipments by an impressive 43% from last year, while Realme experienced an 8% decline in shipments.

Vivo Crowned

Overall, smartphone shipments in India grew by 9% year-on-year, reaching 47.1 million units in Q3 2023. Canalys forecasts modest single-digit growth for 2025, with the ultra-low-end 5G segment expected to remain the primary driver of market expansion.
